The Manifest and Unmanifest God

The nature of man is to long for peace. Everybody longs to be peaceful. In general, your soul longs for peace. The soul longs for unity with God, but yet, even if one knows that one had to construct this unity to have peace, one always thinks, and that diverts one from being peaceful. Why? It is true that man always tries his best, yet, when one relies on one’s own strength, it’s relying only on the limitation. To obtain peace, we have to rely on a higher strength, which is the Grace of God. If one relies on one’s own strength, one will meet only the limitation because one is bound by all this limitation of not making one’s self happy.

If you analyze it, you will say there is the Kingdom of God, there is a Heaven. And this here is a most beautiful garden, dressing itself with the most beautiful trees. Heaven is an unknown, but the most beautiful trees when someone hears it, which one do you think one will take? One will take the most beautiful garden, because the attraction of Heaven or God-realization in the mind of man doesn’t make man run toward that. The garden has an image, that’s why man runs toward that image. When one runs toward that image, one makes one’s self unhappy. Actually, happiness and sadness, being unhappy, is an institution of man. Man can choose to be happy and peaceful depending on how one sees the world, how one sees one’s life, or one chooses to be unhappy and dramatize one’s life. It’s all about how we see it, how we construct it.

All religions talk about God, all religions talk about the unity with the Divine Self, the unity, who is God, through love. Yet, why do only few people really have this longing for the Divine? Why do most of the people long for the limitation of the Divine? Of course when we talk about the Divine, some will say that God is everything. It’s true, God is everything. We have to understand that true manifestation of God is the manifest form and the unmanifest form which is God with qualities, and God which is unmanifest who is pervading all the qualities which are unmanifest, in itself. How do we understand the unmanifestation of God?

The Gita, chapter 12, talks about that which is better for man to concentrate on God with a form or God which is formless. Krishna said: “As humans have a form, the easiest way is to connect one’s self is with one form.” Even how we think is all an image in the mind. Even when we talk about God, for each one of you, God has a different aspect; it’s not the same way. You can say, “God is everything.” Yes, each person perceives God in a different way. This is really a form in the mind. Whereas the unmanifest one reveals Itself when one has come to a very high degree of spirituality where the mind is completely calm and empty, He is present inside. Then the unmanifested is perceived, but it’s quite difficult for man to understand the manifestation of the unmanifested one, because in the unmanifested one, there is everything. There is love, there is hate; there is joy, there is sadness; there is judgment, there is non-judgment. There is the wholeness of everything, that is what makes God the absolute, or to have all the qualities, not only the good qualities which one perceives.

When you think about man, when you choose to be happy or unhappy, you will perceive only one thing, whereas in the fullness of yourself, you know equally that the good and the bad is part of you. You don’t let it manifest; you don’t let it happen into the outside, you have everything to control. This is when one, through one’s sadhana, reaches the unmanifested one.

We can also put it like this: the unmanifested one is like a big, huge storm over the ocean. Imagine yourself in a boat in the middle of the sea in a huge storm is happening. What is your reaction; where is the land? A manifested form of the Divine is like a nice swimming pool with clear water when you take your Istadev, your Deity. It seems like the clear swimming pool where everybody can enjoy the Divine. This is building the personal connection with the Divine so that one may enjoy love. This is not just allowing with limitation, but from this limitation, through the love that one constructs to the Deity, or to the Divine, to the Master, to the Guru, one is raised to this peaceful state. What the Deity represents is God in this manifested aspect. What the Master or the Guru represents is the Divine in the unmanifest form.

That is what Krishna said. It is the same with the saints. The moment one thinks of a saint, one thinks of a Guru or one thinks of a messenger of God, I [Krishna] am totally connected with the person, and it is not the Master or the Guru who is acting, it is only me which is acting through him. This is how the Master or the Saint sees it because it is all the manifestation of God through Him. If they could reach that, you also can reach that state of the oneness with the Divine. It is not there, far away. Whenever we talk of the Divine, it seems it is out there far away from your own being. In reality, He is here, in you. Firstly, you have to realize that He dwells inside of you as a form of Love.

Mahavatar Babaji Says Today

Dear ones of Earth come to the center of the Self and you will attune to this place within the Heart where the entire Manifest and the Unmanifest reside. Your Teacher shows you this over and over and over. We truly reside within you, in both Manifest and Unmanifest form. We long for the unity that your acquiescence to Love, which your attunement to the teachings of your Teacher, will manifest for you. Our purpose in being with you is to bring you to this attunement. Take to Heart what your Teacher so lovingly and powerfully shows you, again and again. If it were in our power, we would Will this for you. Yet, the Divine has given you the free will to come to the unity of his Manifest and Unmanifest forms in your own timing, which is in Divine timing, as He has willed it to be so. I am ever the champion of you all. -Babaji
